1. E-Population: 38.5 million in 2005-06 grew from 25 million in 2004-05. Estimated 100 million in 2007-2008. Facilated by low broadband rates of $4.32 per month.

2. Affordable PC’s $218 each. 45% growth in number of cybercafes per year for 5 yrs. 18000 in 2001 to 105,350 in 2005.

3. Areas of use : Job search – 51%, Banking -32%,Bill Pay -18%, Stock trading -15%, Matrimonial -15%

4. Age groups: Net buffs mostly between 18-35.45-65 emerging as biggest commercial user

5. E-commerce $256 million in 2005-06 estimated to grow to $500 million ( Rs. 2300 crores) in 2006-07
