It has been long since I posted on VW. I had a good trip to USA and the level of activity on both the coasts is quite manic. In spite of the subprime woes I doubt that a recession is on the horizon anytime soon.
On a personal note it looks like that I will be getting together with three young entrepreneurs in Delhi and founding a company soon. Expect to hear a bit more over the next month.
Unfortunately for the rest of 2007 it will leave me no bandwidth to advise entrepreneurial companies. With those who have already established contact and would benefit from a brief interaction I will try and do that but will not have time for any new interactions. I will also till August 2008 not invest in any startups other than the one I found.
Initially startups , I believe, require intense focus with few distractions.
I will continue to read VW with great interest but the frequency of my posts/comments will be quite low ( I can see some people heaving a huge sigh of relief )
For our startup to succeed we will need a lot of support and we look forward to getting that from the VW community.

Hi All, I have been a regular visitor to VW.The posts have been really informative and the spirit here is really commendable.Starting something on your own requires a lot of gut feeling and calculated risks(although the risks sometimes appear out of nowhere).I am presently working for a software MNC and have plans of someday starting up something on my own.But i had my reservations as I didn’t have much exposure how the thing REALLY WORKS.Being here and reading what everybody has to share has really helped me prepare, mentally atleast. But i really feel that i need to work for some startup and learn the tricks of the trade.Other day i read a post by Kamla Bhatt about how people are now coming forward and showing willingness to work for startups even if they have got their share of societal misunderstandings, the pressure from parents and relatives and overlooking jobs from MNCs.
And reading the articles at Paulgraham.com has been really motivating as well. As far as making a choice between a secure job and a startup, I found an article on the same site that really got me thinking. The link to that article is : paulgraham dot com/mit dot html
I really feel that i need to be a part of some startup.I know working in a startup can be a very demanding job but at the same time i am also aware of the long term benefits both financially as well as the contentment that one derives from working in a startup.I would really appreciate comments/advice from everyone here.

Hi Sanjay,
Wanted to say best of luck with getting the new venture off the ground. I personally enjoyed my interaction with you and your inputs though we could not work together possibly because of geographic distance.
cheers,
Roshan
Hi Vaibhav,
Yes VW is definitely a very informative place. Also you will see a lot of experienced people here . You can connect with them and probably will find that mentorship you are looking for .
Hello
Taking forward this post of your’s. I too have plans of starting up something of my own and at the Bangalore Barcamp 4 ( which ended yesterday), i got the feedback that VW is one of the best places to get a feel about your idea. Ppl, please lemme know if i got it right…i can then possibly share the vision with VW to get the initial feedback. Also, we ( me and my team) are in search of ppl who can actually help us with the mentorship on this project… lemme know if i am at the right place.
cheers,
Vaibhav
