I just read this article on Shanda the leading MMORPG ( Massively multiplayer online role playing games) company in China .
I have seen number of business plans in the last few months but suprisingly none on gaming. I wonder why ? Clearly online penetration and usage is currently low. Maybe thats the reason ?

Hmm, According to me and what i have seen is that SD/Supreme Destiny which is currently an MMO running in India by Vibrant Games has got 10% Indians and 90% Outsiders, cause i too play it on occasion basis.
Ragnarok Online fell down due to its own staff who went on abusing the game system, and i have practically witnessed it and it had a very low payout for it staff [had attended an Interview when Encroach Patch was about to be released]. Cronus is a utter Flop as it has 90% similarity with Supreme destiny [Can even say only graphics/design differ and all the instances and gameplay remains the same like Monsters,Quests,Skills and more]. A3 India had to go down as players got hooked to it and did whatnot and even their own staff were really irresponsible, their only motto was to mint money money, so even before the the game could reach 140 players, they shifted to pay 2 Play and off course we saw “The whole game server being taken down by many Hackers” and the server was down for months. About Flyff Online, I have heard rumors about it going to be launched in India starting from the very first face/version of the game like how Ragnarok online was when it was launched in India and i have seen the License issue between Galanet.jp and Zapak India [Its somewhere on the Internet], but when i visited the Zapak Website and even its own forum i could not even find out even a single ray on it by the Zapak staff but only Zapak Players asking about its release and so.
One more probability in India is that most of the MMOs including Zapak are hacked by third party tools just for gaining in-game from the client side. See for Ragnarok Online itself i found majority of the players using bots, third party tools, abuses, warez and more just to play the game to gain zeny [in-game currency] even promoted and used by its own staff. Zapak gets abused for Coins or watever the in-game money is called and most of the Indian Gamers like/love to search out for these things even before they start the original Gaming journey and this becomes a big head-ache for the Gaming Team [GM’s, Tech Staffs…]. How about that when the game gets chorus like “GM xxx player is hacking, I got hacked, GM help me i am hacked,Selling Gold [in-game currency] for xxx amount/cash and more].
There are many more such reasons which make the Gaming companies to shout themselves up in the mire of chaos, as Indian Market is absolutely Free2play and very less players opt for pay 2 Play. Great example in Ragnarok Online, which is have witnessed where before the game went for pay 2 Play mode there were like 1k+ players logged into the game and after pay 2 Play the player base gradually got reduced to 200+ players and abruptly 2 Servers name Chaos and Loki were merged to Chaos server to keep up with the gaming population and later on the game was abused seriously by Botters,Hackers,Game Gold sellers and more before the server was completely closed and Levelup games Inc had to giveup its operations in India as a Whole and same applies even to A3 India.
There were even rumors that World of Warcraft going to be launched in India as a contract between Reliance and Blizzard Entertainment way long before Ragnarok Online went down, but till now there isn’t any news regarding this…
Well that’s all about it….
Happy Gaming.
Hi there,
I need help. I’m writing an article on status of MMORPG in India. It would be great if you could help me with certain statistics and games’ inception in India.
When I checked various sites, I got confused as some sites say the Legend of Katha is our first game. some say Ragnarok was the beginning. Yet other sites say Flyff is the first ever MMORPG, launched this year. I would like to know when and which was first MMORPG launched in India. Which is India’s own first MMORPG and what is the current statistics of the players. I am somehow unable to find these information. Could you please help me with its history in India and its current status in the country?
