I got the email below I think from Slide Share. It could be an April Fools joke but not being very tech savvy I did not know what I am supposed to do. I have a slide share presentation on Financial inclusion in India that I would like a lot of people to browse but I do not know if this is the one being browsed or not. Help from tech savvy folk appreciated. This is probably also a good way for startups such as Slide Share to get people to write about them. Comments.

We’ve noticed that your slideshow on SlideShare has been getting a LOT of views in the last 24 hours. Great job … you must be doing something right. 😉

I would not send out such April Fools spam. It is not funny and in bad taste.
It is SlideShares idea of an April Fools joke. They added two zeroes to the view count . That is why the inconsistency. They had a presentation stating this as the top presentation of the day.
I for one am not too upset. Hey its April Fools Day after all but I can see some folks not being too pleased.
As a company I wonder if this is a good risk to take?
There is also some inconsistency in the number of views. If I go to my Slide Space a presentation I posted in 2006 shows over 500,000 views which to me is very high. If I click on My Slideshows it shows 5000 views which is high nut more reasonable. I had not loaded mt financial inclusion presentation on Slideshare but had put it using slide share on my linked in profile. That has 48 views. On SlideShare for the financial inclusion presentation in a few hours I see 800 views and 7 views ( corresponding to the 500,000 and 5000)
This is slideshare spam. I think everyone that has posted anything on slide share is being sent this email. I am not sure why they would use such tactics.
They got me too. If you search through their main page for your slideshow you’ll see the counts aren’t actually that high. We’ve been April Fooled. 🙂
