This post is regarding MockBank (www.mockbank.com). MockBank is in the business of providing online mock tests for various competitive examinations, like CAT, JEE, AIEEE, AIPMT, Bank PO etc. Candidates appearing in these competitive exams can come to MockBank and buy mock tests, which are then served on an online assessment platform. Post the test, candidates are provided a test report and actionable suggestions on improving their performance. The revenue model is that students pay for taking the mock tests. We are not into ad revenue and lead sales etc. which is what many of the other education portals seem to be doing (do not mean it as an offence to ads and leads model. Just clarifying what MockBank does). It is a sweet intersection of ecommerce (customers pay online and are also serviced online- classic ecommerce for consumer services) and education.
MockBank’s vision is to be the biggest brand in the informal education sector in India within 5 years (as an aside, I came across this small deck from NEA that talks about this sector briefly- http://www.slideshare.net/kittukolluri/investing-in-india-feb-2010). MockBank has been in operation for a couple of months and it has gotten decent response for a startup. MockBank is now looking to ramp up and put together a rockstar team.
This is a call to people interested in working with MockBank. MockBank being very small right now, all sort of skill sets are required. The only one mandatory is having a desire to build a successful startup in the web/ education space and having the smarts and sincerity to back that desire.
