innovation in e-learning ?

i was going through some recent VC posts about upcoming boom in e-learning websites ( in India ). I tried to look around, but couldn’t find any indian/global website with significant innovation in that area. Can someone point me to a good resource/website ?

I somehow believe, hosting videos and lecture notes coupled with some worksheets is not key to solving this problem.

And at the same time, i have a gut feel that a good learning portal (not restricted to just education) can attract really huge volumes/hits. A patent search on e-learning would help you understand what i am trying to point at.

    For e-learning-based companies..

The market is at such an early stage that it demands more value and features rather than standard learning tools. Once the market develops into a full time industry, the focus might shift to learn-ability but as of now it’s all about hyping the product or service.

I say this because for any successful e-learning implementation we need a great deal of support from the management and the students. The management should be itching to use it to improve their standards through the product which I dont see it happening in the near future. From my experience, I have rarely sighted such an enthusiasm. So, the only way to sell a solution is through features which are attractive even to the layman.

I think e-learning will realize it’s true potential in about 3-4 years(or even more) from now when institutes will treat it as a routine and not as an add-on. So, I think it boils down to the concept of selling as of now.

Also, it is unfortunate that the government is yet to realize the potential of this mode of learning. If properly utilized, e-learning is a perfect solution for countries like India where you can reach a wide audience i.e if it is used through web, like how we offer.

as service providers for e learning organization in the area of animation.

done some real good work in the short span of 5 months we have started.
we are trying to encourage those people who feel there is not much

Its a pleaure to read the post and the comments as always.:)

I thought of writing down my views on the same, i believe a massive e-learning need exists in Indian scenario as well. The traction for this space is huge in India as well. Products can for sure be made which not only facilitate students to get a better insight of the subject but also network with others. With product solutions like Youtube ( for video embedding of the tutorial) and slideshare (for ppts) we can develop products which can actually change the way education system exists in India.

I have some more thoughts on this and ppl interested to interact can get in touch with me at pandey(dot)vaibhav(at)gmail.com
    cheers,
    Vaibhav
