@Shashank, well said. But then the same rule applies to many things - Why does Pan IIT, which is technically nothing more than an Alumni meet, raise crores and spend crores organizing it? :)

I attended Tiecon 08 and also 09. I was struck by the grand scale of the show and the 5 star ambience. At the same time a thought crept in to my mind:
Ask any entrepreneur and they will tell you how important it is to manage cash.

If TiE is about entrepreneurship then why dont they show some creative thinking and manage the same conference with lesser money without diluting the event. Organising it at a 5 start venue is easy...what you need is to get some big names to sponsor and get the remaining from delegates.

I am pretty sure it won't be easy but then whosoever said that entrepreneurship is easy?

Nalin, Just a suggestion, when making a post, especially on events, it would be helpful to use the "More" function and crop the post beyond the first paragraph. That way the interested folks would read more and the rest wouldnt feel overwhelmed?
